ANGI PLATT

Angi is an 11th generation Texas and can talk your ear off about the state. She has a terrific, supportive hubby, supportive family and friends. In fact, no one makes fun of her writing romance. Two of her children are out on their own: her son is a Marine stationed in Okinawa until 2007, married with a daughter and son. Her oldest daughter lives close by and also has a daughter and son. Her youngest is about to turn 15 and keeps her busier than when all three lived at home with academics, marching band, and high school softball.

Speaking of softball...  Almost every spring and early summer evening, Angi umpires Girls Fastpitch or attends one of her daughter’s games or practices. She’s in her fifteenth year of coaching -- yep, she began when her youngest was six days old. She's volunteered by scheduling games, by helping with the Middle School & High School bands, arranging food for athletes before school events, umpiring for Special Olympics and charity tournaments and ... well the list could go on...

A full-time writer -- whenever she’s not driving or volunteering somewhere -- she loves to write fish-out-of-water stories, time travels and romantic suspense. She considers herself very fortunate to have landed a supportive agent who believes in her and her work.

Angi has been a member of RWA® and Dallas Area Romance Authors since March '99. She received her PRO pin in 2001 and joined NTRWA in 2003. She has served as the DARA Newsletter Editor 2 years, half a year as Historian, and four years on the Dreamin' In Dallas Conference committee. She served as the RWA® Region 5 National Director in 2002 and 2003. She helped with the ‘04 & '05 NT Great Expectations Contest and is the 2006 & 2007 coordinator. She is also the 2005 & 2006 Publicity Chair (including the website) for NT.

Angi has overseen RWA's National ContestLink for Contest Coordinators since late 2001 and runs RomanceContests, an announcement only loop for writers interested in contests (over 580 members). She runs an on-line critique group, Romance Critters, which has over 75 members and she is a sponsor for Tex-Critiquers -- an on-line group for NT moderated by Gina Nelson. Angi was in charge of the 2004 and 2005 RWA® National Conference Literacy signing volunteers and will be again in 2006 when RWA meets in Atlanta. Currently she is a member of the National Pro-Communications Committee.

Angi won/wrote a chapter of the eHarlequin Writing Round Robin in 2001 and highly recommends participating in this bi-weekly challenge. One of those writers that you either love or hate her work, she rarely finaled in contests...but continued to give them a shot, working her way up the rankings until becoming a double finalist in the 2004 Great Expectations Contest and winning the Romantic Suspense category with ERRANT RHODES, receiving a full request from Harlequin. In 2005, she placed third in the Laurie Romantic Suspense category, second in the Romance Through The Ages Paranormal category, and first in the Golden Gateway Romantic Suspense category receiving a request from Kate Duffy at Kensington. She judges from ten to twelve contests per year and works with all levels of critique partners.

Angi was a 2004 RWA® Golden Heart finalist in Romantic Suspense with her work: RUNNING FROM LOVE (currently retitled LOVE ON THE RUN). Her personal on-line critique group consisted of five Golden Heart finalists and three Golden Heart winners. Three have recently become published authors, selling to Temptation, Intimate Moments & Avalon. Angi now critiques on-line with a smaller group of three GH finalists, two of whom have won and are published.
